To me, horses are more than just a hobby or something I love, they are a passion! I've ridden for over 13 years. In that time, I have been blessed by many horses that have taught me more than some learn in a lifetime. I've learned how to love, how to let go, how to listen, how to be confident, how to teach, how to learn, how to tust, how to listen to my heart and my gut, and how to make wise decisions. For the first 10 years that I rode, I did not have my own horse. I was always dying for a horse of my very own, but looking back, I wouldn't trade the experiences of those 10 years for anything. My trainer and I have become very good friends over the past 7 or 8 years that I've ridden with her, and she used to always let me ride whenever I wanted to as long as I rode whatever horse she told me to that day and I helped out with the barn chores. So, needless to say, I've ridden my share of junk! (not that the horses were bad, but they either needed attitude or training work) About 3 years ago I got my very own horse! He is a beautiful, big, 8 year old quarter horse named Smooze. I've gotten to do all of his training myself, so we have a very special bond. I've dabbled in just about every discipline, but Smooze and I enjoy jumping or a good bareback gallop the most! :)
