GENDER OF HORSE: Gelding

HORSE NAME: Ardent Journey (Artie)
HEIGHT: 16.3 and growing
BREED: American Warmblood (TB/Dutch WB/Oldenburg/grade dam)
RIDING DISCIPLINE: becoming my eventer
YEARS RIDING: has been undersaddle consistently for almost 2 years
UPCOMING COMPETITIONS: No dates ironed out yet, but will start the season off doing a couple Training dressage classes, will then incorporate some two-phases and begin schooling the cross country courses nearby. Planning on an event or two later in the season. Next year he should be ready to start right out in eventing. He's young and we've had bouts of time off for his awkward growing haha, so just playing it by ear and how he progresses when he's back in work.
HISTORY OF YOUR HORSE: Artie is out of my mother's mare Shiloh, a very sweet grade pinto. His sire is Alexander (standing at Log Hollow Farm)a Dutch Warmblood/Thoroughbred/Oldenburg and Art Deco son.

Artie is a coming 5 yo. Backed him the fall he was 2 and then gave him the winter off. 3 we rode off and on. He grows super gangly and crooked and gets growing pains, so gets time off during his growth spurts. He is very sensitive and somewhat hot, when excited he becomes very lofty and enters giraffe mode haha, I don't want to discourage the stretching forward goal we have by riding him when he's sore. We did a local schooling show, green horse walk-trot, the fall he was 3. He took forever to settle in and clearly showed that "baby brain" was alive and well, but he didn't do anything bad and behaved himself and listened well during the warm-up and class, so I was pleased. Lovely new-england winter arrived, and he pretty much just sat around getting fuzzy and growing even more nerdy looking. Spring and his 4th birthday arrived. Got him back into work, really started working toward relaxation, impulsion, and getting that topline engaged. We had days where horse brain would make an appearance and days baby brain would be in full swing. Was always moving in the right direction though. I did a few shows in the local dressage circuit and ended up taking him year end champion. Totally unexpected. Did the shows mostly for exposure and to continue to expose him to new things and get him used to settling in and getting mind on business even in new places. Very nice surprise. Also started schooling him over some fences at home. Very honest but virtually zero form at this point haha. It's now winter again, he's growing even more, and is out getting lazy. Super icy so we can't do much of anything. Can't wait until spring to get him going again. He's a blast.
CURRENT STABLE: local
GENDER OF HORSE: Gelding

Hey everyone, my name is Karen, I'm 22 and live in NH. I own a house with my wonderful fiance of 3 years. Don't quite have enough land to keep a horse on it though, so sadly my boy isn't out in my backyard like I got used to growing up. I keep him at my parents though, so board in exchange for working with my mom and little sisters horses (they're like my adoptees) haha (as well as being roped into babysitting and whatnot lol). I have a "real" job working full time as an engineer for the state, and then my fun work doing training and lessons. I absolutely love it and eventually (when finances are better) plan on having a bigger piece of property with a few stalls to do a small training operation and some boarding. For fun (other than the horses of course) I'm a huge Red Sox and Patriots fan, I love muscle cars, atv's, dirt bikes, and muddin' trucks, hanging out with the guys, movies, music, drawing, and reading.

Your horses are absolutely gorgeous. Artie especially- I love the colors! I'm a sucker for greys too, so Monty has my heart.
