She was bred to race (she has bloodlines relating her back to Bold Ruler!) but the farm that owned her in Ohio went bankrupt and she was auctioned off and bounced around to 2 or 3 owners before landing here on Long Island, NY with her previous owner. I worked my butt off running a riding summer camp by myself, the owner of the barn gave her to me. He had absued her so badly that she wouldnt do anything more than a trot without trying to kill you, and would kick the walls whenever she heard his voice and lunge at him when he walked by. It took 3 months to get her to walk over poles on the ground. When she gained my trust she was the sweetest thing in the world, but still a handful to ride...there was only 1 person besides my trainer and I that was able to ride her! We went to a couple of schooling shows and always came back with ribbons...always atleast 1 blue! At our last show we got reserve champion, and I was finally happy that I had achieved my goal. Right before my senior year of High School, things got too hectic, so I sent Bess to live with on my friend's farm, Lost Brook Farm, in Middletown, VA. She is happy running around the huge fields with 3 other horses and other farms animals. When I am done with college and I am financially ready, Bess will be coming back to Long Island! :) |

I'm Jackie, I have loved horses since the day I knew what they were and I have been riding since I was 6 years old (thats the youngest anyone would take me! )I have been in love with the sport ever since. I have a beautiful mare named Bess, her show name is The Queen of Hearts (she can either steal your heart with her beauty and personality or give you a heart attack when your riding her!)Bess is currently down in VA living it up at my friend's place, Lost Brook Farm, until I am done with school and I can take her back up here to Long Island. For now when I ride, I exercise my friend's show horses where I am learning to ride western, reaining and roping to be exact. Englsh is where my heart is though I used to do the jumpers when I was young and fearless, now I tend to do the Hunters with my team. I am the Co-Captain of the Dowling College Equestrian Team and I LOVE it! There is nothing better than riding during the week and waking up early on weekends to go to intercollegiate horse shows with your best friends!
