ME
I'm Kate.
I've been riding horses my whole life.
I first started riding western,
and was showing in 4-H at 8 years old.
When I was 13 I started riding at a local
Stable that did Dressage riding.
Last winter, I started doing Vaulting
with a team that is there at the stable.
I am still vaulting today.
I wanted to do more jumping,
and not many people at Oak Hills
did jumping. it was mainly dressage.
So I started riding at Zephyr Ranch,
which is about a mile away from Oak Hills.
Zephyr Equestrian Center has a beautiful
cross country course,
and always has jumps set up in their arena.
I now keep one of my six horses at zephyr,
and clean 40 stalls once a week to pay for it.
I am not currently going to school.
I spend most of my time as a working student
at Zephyr, vaulting, cleaning stalls,
giving riding lessons, Doing Photography And Hanging out with my barn friends.
MY HORSES
I own six horses.
Moque: 27 year old Polish Arabian gelding.
My mom owned both sire and dam.
She raised and broke him from a foal.
He is Chestnut with four white stockings
and a blaze, and is 15hh.
When I started showing in 4-H, I used him.
Valentine: 8 year old American Quarter Horse gelding.
I bought Val as a 2 year old Stallion,
and gelded him not long after. Which, I regret.
He is the most willing and kind horse I have
ever known. and i wouldn't sell him for a anything.
Everything that he knows, I have taught him myself.
He was bought for my dad, who only likes to go
on trail rides, and rarely rides otherwise.
I took Val under my wing and started training
him to do other things than just be a
pasture ornament.
I showed him in 4-h for a few years,
and then started riding english.
I now ride him in dressage and eventing,
and he is totally amazing!
He is a Red Roan with a perfect diamond snip
and star, and is 14.3hh.
Cher: 5 year old Morab (Morgan/Arab) Mare.
I owned her mother and raised her as a baby.
When she was three my mom broke her,
with a bit of my help.
Since she is still green broke,
she hasn't done much.
I have jumped her very little and
I am training her in dressage.
I soon plan to train her in dressage and eventing,
and hope to show her and then sell her to
a Pony Club rider. She would be perfect for that.
She is a liver chestnut going grey,
and is about 15hh
Izzy: He is my baby. I love him so much.
he is a 4 year old Hanoverian/Appendix QH gelding.
He is registered as American Warmblood.
I bought him as a 2 year old,
and it was love at first sight.
He is sired by the stallion, Titan
at Oak Hills. (Titan recently passed away
from Liver Disease on Christmas eve.)
I am training Izzy as an eventer, and he is
going very well. Since he is young I have only
jumped him over little stuff. But he's doing well!
He is doing well in dressage,
and I am hoping to show him in
schooling shows this spring.
I am boarding Izzy at Zephyr, and I clean 40
stalls once a week to pay for it.
He is Black, with four socks and a star,
and is over 16hh.
Rockette: 3 year old Morab Filly.
She is a full sister to Cher.
I am currently breaking her myself,
and she will be my first horse to break.
She is a Light Chestnut with a half moon star,
and a pastern sock, and is about 14hh.
Julio: 3 year old Hanoverian/Lusitano/TB Gelding.
He is registered with American Warmblood.
He is a younger half brother to Izzy,
with Titan as his Sire.
His dam is out of a Lusitano/TB Stallion
named El Hombre, who was owned by Oak Hills.
(Hombre also passed away in December.)
Julio is my mom's horse, and she is breaking him.
He is Brown, has Two tall socks and a Blaze,
and is over 15hh.
