| UPCOMING COMPETITIONS: |
Charger and I will be gearing up for the hacking classes and campdrafting at the Katherine Show in July 2009. Maybe a few other campdrafts too. Bank balance pending. It would be a completely stupid idea to take Chief to any kind of competition. |
| HISTORY OF YOUR HORSE: |
Charger: A few years before I bought him he got heated, so the head stockman of the station at the time went to go put a slit in his ear but ended up cutting his ear off so he only has half an ear.
While working on a different station to where we are now, we were doing some cattle work and we went to go chase the cattle back in to the herd and we fell in a sinkhole. I climbed out over the top of Charger but he fell back into the hole. It was bloody scary!
He's a nice quiet horse with a big personality and with his age he is starting to become a school horse for some of the girls here.
Chief: My other half, Damian, got given Chief while he was working at Legune Station. Chief had been bashed and mistreated by a former worker and because of this no one could get near the horse. He was broken in but impossible to catch. Go near him and he would double barrel you or run you over (no joke). With alot of patience and persistance Chief was finally able to be caught and a halter and bridle were able to be put on his head in albeit an unorthodox fashion (you hold the bridle open and Chief would volunteer to put his head in and take the bit). Since I've taken over from Damian, he has come even further along. My first encounter with him was a scary one (he nearly ran me down) and now I can put a bridle on him like I would a normal horse and pat him on his face. Instead of walking away when I want to pat or cuddle him, he now stands there and enjoys the affection. He's a sweet horse but severely misunderstood. |

My name is Teagan. I work on cattle stations in the Northern Territory of Australia. I love pigs and dogs, cattle and frogs and of course, horses. I have three dogs (a red heeler, a blue heeler and a miniature fox terrier), two horses (one Australian Stockhorse, one part QH), one man and an evil feral cat that we found in a shed. Here on Willeroo Station, I care for 3 domestic pigs and 11 poddy calves. I grew up on an island surrounded by beaches and now my closest decent beach is over 1000km away. I got my first horse, Shandy, for my 16th birthday but reluctantly sold her when I was 19. Charger is my second horse, I share Chief with my other half.
