FAVORITE RIDERS: Beezie Madden is my idol, but I also really like Karen O'Connor. There's something about the way they ride that is just so amazing to watch.
FAVORITE MUSIC: I listen to pretty much anything, but my favorites are definitely fast songs I can go running to. Some of my current favorites are:

"When I Grow Up" Pussycat Dolls
"Like A Pistol" Laze & Royal
"Lolli Lolli" Three 6 Mafia
"One Step at a Time" Jordin Sparks
"Addicted" Saving Abel
"All American Girl" Carrie Underwood
"Last Name" Carrie Underwood
"Should've Said No" Taylor Swift
FAVORITE TRAIL RIDES: Definitely the one where my 12hh pony was flying past the 16hh horse. It so AWESOME; we were galloping freely in the fields, jumping over all the little dips in the landscape. It was the greatest feeling of ecstasy I've ever experienced.

On August 9 I competed with the mare I plan on getting after finding someone to take Leon. Ledgewind's Sassy Sal, a 13 year old American Saddlebred and I will showed at Glen Valley Open Horse Show in Oshkosh, WI. We took 4th in Youth Hunter Under Saddle, 3rd in Novice Hunter Under Saddle, and didn't place in English Equitation. All of our classes were large enough that not everyone placed, I just forgot the numbers.

On June 7, Ledgewind's Sassy Sal and I debuted to blue in Open English Pleasure at the De Equus All English Horse Show in Manitowoc, WI. We finished up the day taking 2nd in Open English Pleasure Novice/Junior Horse, and first in Open English Equitation. Yay us!
HISTORY OF YOUR HORSE: "Leon" was born at one of the largest Arabian breeding farms in the U.S. on April 7, 1985. He spent his early years dominating the show ring. As a 3 year old, he went to the Region I Championships and unanimously won his championship Arabian Breeding Stallion Halter class of 21 entries. Later, he went to the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show and unanimously won both his qualifier and championship classes in Arabian Pleasure Driving. Those are just a few of his most notable achievements.

At age 4, Leon moved to Iowa to become the foundation sire at a new breeding farm. Unfortunately, the farm went bankrupt and was forced to sell all of the horses shortly after the birth of Leon's first and only foal, a bay filly named Kaligraphic Smile (MHR Ive Arrived X Alidon's Krystal). Leon was bought by a spoiled, undeserving 15 year old from Wisconsin who could not handle him (he was a hot one!) so she decided to have him gelded.

However, since he was 5 years old and had already been bred, gelding didn't do much to calm him down, and the girl sold him. At this point, he fell into a string of abusive owners that lasted for over 7 years. On a daily basis, Leon was beaten and only fed when he "earned" it. This abuse has understandably left Leon with a fear of whips and of being ridden. He is timid with new people (and people he knows if they make sudden movements) but once your earn his trust (which takes a while) you'll be his friend for life.

Luckily, a lady saw him get beaten at a horse show and refused to leave without him, so the check was signed and Leon was saved! He then learned huntseat and proved to be quite a natural. After four years, Leon was sold to a 10 year old girl, who four years later passed him on to me. We've been together ever since. He taught me to ride and is responsible for starting my life-long passion for horses. It's really hard for me to part with him, but I know he needs to go to a real retirement farm; not a show stable where I've been keeping him. I can't live without him, but his happiness is more important than my own so I have to do what's best for him. I just want him to be happy and know that I love him so much more than anything else.
CURRENT STABLE: De Equus Stable
GENDER OF HORSE: Gelding

I'm a senior in high school and getting everything ready to go to college for pre-veterinary medicine with an equine emphasis next year. Nothing makes me happier than horses; I have to make them my life's work.

I've been a vegetarian for over 5.5 years. I won't ever stop.

I love hanging out with my friends (we have the most random times!), singing, running, Ben & Jerry's ice cream (can we say yum!?) and I'm seriously addicted to Starbucks. And of course, the love my my life, riding.

No, I don't show anymore, and even then they were open shows. I totally understand being happy with your placings when you show to a judge with a preference for a different type.
And strangely enough, I read an article just this week about a Manitowoc woman that was killed from falling hay bales, sent to me by my friend in Maribel. :-( You just never know what might happen.
Congrats on your show!
