Hi Everyone,

I haven't been a member of Barnculture ver long, but I am asking for prayers for my horse Walt. I've only had him not quite 3 weeks, and he is in need of surgery. I ask that you would pray for him and pray that I can come up with the money for his surgery. He has a locking stifle, and I'm trying to get the money together for his surgery. So I just ask that everyone pray for Walt and pray that I can get the money together for his surgery.

Thank You in Advance for your prayers.

Luana

Well everyone Walt(I changed his name to Geronimo, as it fits him better) finally had his surgery Monday May 12th. Everything went well. I was a total nervous wreck worrying, but it was unfounded. I guess it's a Mom's job to worry about her kids and he is one of my 4 legged kids. I was so scared that something was gonna happen, but all went well. The vet just gave him a shot to relax him, boy did it ever relax him. Then he numbed the area with a couple of shots. The worst problem was trying to keep him standing mostly square so the vet could get under him to do the surgery. He nearly sat on the vets head. We had to hold him up and keep him from leaning on the vet. He made a six pointed star type incision. It's neat looking. The whole thing was over in about 30 minutes. He also gave him all his shots and cleaned his sheath while he was here. So he's all set as far as his shots until next year. I have to keep him in a small lot for 2 weeks to keep him from running and going up and down the hills. So it's gonna be hay time for the two weeks. That will give the pasture some time to grow up before putting them back out in the pasture. He takes bute 2x a day for 5 days to help with the pain. It doesn't seem to be swelling too much. Thank goodness it's still cool. That will help also. The vet said that normal walking will help keep the swelling down too. He showed my son, who's an EMT how to remove the stitches after the 2 weeks. So far everything is going well.
