I'm 15, and have been riding saddleseat for almost 3 years now and am going to start acadamy showing and after that performance. Lately I have been contemplating making a change to my apperance.... I have dark brown hair and want to get a stripe of fuschia on my right side near teh f4ront. I asked a very experienced Performance rider at my barn about rules on dyeing your hair in shows and she said she was almost positive there was no rule against it and that if it were a problem it could always be hidden under ther hair (I have very very long hair mind you). So anyway - My question is this: Does anyone know if there is any rule about dyeing your hair and showing horses? I would think not but you know, I wanna be safe. Any help with this issue would be very very much appreciated!!!!!

Hi, I also show Saddlebreds, and no, there is no rule against dying your hair. In fact, back when I was in Academy I saw a performance rider with blue hair! She just put it into a neat bun and hid most of it under her hat. She had dark hair to begin with, so when it was rolled up in the bun combined with the shadow from her hat, you had to look closely to see it wasn't a natural color. Hope this helps!
