| HISTORY OF YOUR HORSE: |
I found Dixies ad in the paper. Her and her sister needed a home. The gentleman that owned them had passed away and the family had sent the dam and sire to slaughter. The fillies were left in the pasture to die. We went and purchased both fillies from a man that was generous enough to take them out of that pasture and feed them. I gave dixie to my daughter for her 4th birthday. Dixie is my daughter's first horse. We have owned dixie for 4 years this June.
Star is a rescue. She was due to ship on a slaughter truck. Or so they said. I purchased her and another mare and brought them home. I have since rehomed the other mare with a wonderful family who will let her live out her life in a wonderful pasture. Star and my husband have a huge bond and so she has become his horse. She is one great mare. She was sent to the feedlot because she had white line disease and the owner no longer wanted to care for her. I had it cleared up in 10 months.
Kylee...she is a reservation pony. She was headed to the feedlot as well. She and 3 other fillies went through an auction, a gal bought all 4 and brought them home and a few months later said they would be going to the feedlot if they did not have any home offers by a certain date. Needless to say, we bought Kylee and arranged for her to come here. She was pretty wild for the first 5 months. She is now halter broke, leads, ties and picks up her feet like she has been doing it forever. .
Shadow, this mare has had it rough. She is a rescue as well. She was adopted from the BLM a few years ago. She and some others that the man adopted were all gentled and broke to ride. The man fell on hard times, his health started to fail and he had to take his mustangs to the auction. He prayed they would end up in a great home, but this mare ended up with a kill buyer. An aqaintance spotted her on the lot and asked the feedlot owner if she could buy her. He agreed and sold her to this woman for $450. This person had her for a little over 9 months (I could be wrong) and found that this mare was bred. She had a darling little filly. 4 months later after she had her filly, this mare was a rack of bones and needed to be rescued once again. I (with the help of some great friends) paid $500 for her, and 5 months later she is in great health. She is my dream horse and I look forward to many years with her. |

I have always loved horses. Being around horses always made me smile. Growing up as a child, my family was very poor. We lived in motels (literally) till I was 13. To get away and be with horses I would go stay with my Aunt at Los Alimitos Race track. She was a groom and had a kick butt tack room we would would stay in. I stayed with her almost every weekend. There I was able to help her groom the horses, feed them, walk them. It was a blast. Those were the best times. I married at the age of 16. I always talked about horses. My husband promised me that someday soon he would buy me a horse. He bought me my first horse 4 years ago. Her name was Nitro. And she was just that! Turns out she was not the right horse for me. From there I was made aware that horses were being sent to slaughter for human consumption. I was horrified. I then made it my mission to help those horses that would be headed for that terrible fate. I have rehomed several horses into permanent homes and I get updates on them all the time. To make a long story short, We now own 4 horses , live on 40 acres, I still rescue horses and I help others rescue horses. I could not ask for a better life.
