2008!

We have due in May '08, a foal by GWAIHIR TOS (grey) and out of LL HALAWE (bay).  50% chance of grey, otherwise probably chestnut, but hoping for bay!

We are breeding both PCC XERESH (black) and TURFA GHAZALAH (chestnut) to our own ALI-ZEUS (black) and breeding ANDURIL TOS (grey) to Miracle The Chief (bay).  PCC XERESH should have a black, TURFA GHAZALAH should have a chestnut.  Hoping ANDURIL TOS has a bay, but will probably get grey!

Due in August 2008

Razia Interagro (PSL - Lusitano) X Urano VO (PSL - Lusitano). Both are imported from Brazil out of champion bloodlines - both are awesome movers, have fantastic conformation and delightful temperments. Foal will be available after weaning - approx. Dec. 08. Please contact me if you have interest. You can see the sire at http://www.theroyallusitano.com/

The foal will likely be grey - Sire has really gorgeous dapples and black points. Mare is almost white at 10 y/o.

2008!

I don't know much about the Iberian breeds.  A friend who professionally trains dressage stands a stallion, I think he's andy though, not Lusitano.  Name is Jovian D.  There was a young andy stallion at a sale I went to on saturday.  He was a bit weedy looking, He didn't look purebred  to me, being very light.  I always thought the Iberians were more substantial than he looked.  I guess it could have been because he was only 3, but was already infull-time training and worked heavily.

What are your plans for your foal?

Iberian horses (Luso/Andy) mature very slowly like the Lippizan. Most people don't start training til 3 at the earliest many wait til 4. My colt at 2 is very weedy -looked better at just a little over 1 year but then went through a growth spurt and looks like a gangly kid again-he's 15H 1" and I expect at least 16 from him. My 3 year old mare is still a bit weedy but starting to fill.  She is 15H 3" right now, but will likely be over 16H.

My colt will try his first time with live cover this summer with my QH mare for an Azteca foal. Then at the end of the season we will likely start to train him to do AI at my vets repro barn - he's booked to one Luso mare this year for his early trial run. This was on my vets advice to start his breeding career. He's quite well mannered for a stallion so far - as his sire and dam are. The trademark of the Iberians.

I am starting my first Luso filly/mare this spring - right before she is bred . I wish I could do embryo transfer with her, but it is cost prohibitive right now. So she will have a foal next year, I'll have to wait and see what I get with that one. I'd like to keep that cross. The sire will be Mistral Do Top who sired my palomino colt. This mare is bay - so maybe palomino, maybe buckskin, maybe bay.

I wish I could keep them all, but....my 08 foal will be for sale.
