Finally a trail ride!
Hey trail buddies! I finally got the pictures up from the trail ride we took a couple of weeks ago. It was SO great to be out, and my new little mare, Rizzo (Other than being out of shape and needing to stop a lot) did awesome. She wasn't spooky. She listened and rode welll. I am really pleased with her. Because of her background, I wasn't sure how she would do with new things, but she already trusts me, most of the time without questioning, and she is going to make a wonderful trail horse. Donna rode her mare, Sissy with very little trouble....in fact, Sissy kept wondering why we were going so slow!
For those of you who don't know Rizzo's story, she's a rescued blue roan appy that my friend Melissa rescued. I've been helping train and nurse her back to health and then a few weeks ago, Melissa asked me if I wanted to buy her! What kind of crazy question is that, I thought!? Of course I want her. She's just got that kinda "Rizzo" attitude that says, I'll do what you say, but only because I choose to, not because you want me to! She has come such a long way from the seriously malnourished and abused little girl she was. We had her hooves trimmed and shod a few days before we took her out. She stood for the farrier like she'd done it all her life (and I know she's been barefoot for at least a year and a half). He had to take way too much hoof off for my comfort, but she seems to be responding very well and he's the expert (and was obviously right). Anyway, check out the gallery on my page, you'll see some pictures from the trail ride.
Wouldn't you know we got another three inches of snow yesterday! Guess we're back to the arena for today! have a good weekend all.

wow sounds like a great ride! I've been putting around my "backyard" trails, haven't gotten to go anywhere yet for a big ride though. My horse is actually standing in my backyard snoozing with our calf at the moment!
I am going out for a ride this afternoon, will try to get some pics for everyone if I can!

Hey Trail Buddies!
I just got back from the hospital. Back Surgery, so your pictures are going to be my "trail rides" for awhile! Have a good time out there everyone! Love seeing your horses...is there anything better than a warm breeze out on the trail on your favourite horse?!

I can't wait to get out on some real trails. I have a few paths through my back-woods that I practice on, but it's not the same. My horse is fairly green-spooks and jittery around motorcycles & loud trucks, but I'm hoping that being around seasoned horses will help. I'm hoping to get out in the next couple of weeks and I don't know what to expect from him. Guess I'll see, though.
Anyone have any advice?
