PHOENIX – May 21, 2008 – A record setting crowd of 103,521 was in attendance at magnificent Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky, April 24 – 27, for this year’s Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by Farnam.
“Farnam is proud to be the Presenting Sponsor for the fourth consecutive year of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, the only Four Star Event in the Western Hemisphere,” said Chris Jacobi, senior vice president of Farnam Equine Products. “It is a great pleasure to align our company and its products with the United States Equestrian Federation and such a prestigious event.”
In addition to presenting trophies to the second and third place winning teams; Becky Holder riding Courageous Comet who came in with 47.3 penalty points and Missy Ransehousen riding Critical Decision who ended competition with 57.3 penalty points, Chris Jacobi made a special presentation to the Farnam®/Platform® - USEF Horse of the Year, Theodore O’Connor and his veteran rider Karen O’Connor during the ceremony honoring the US Eventing Team who won a team gold medal and swept the top three individual medals at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The winner of this year’s competition, Phillip Dutton and Connaught completed a completely flawless show jumping round to finish with a mere 41.7 penalty points after finishing in second place five times before.
The Farnam sponsored jump this year was the tricky “Sunken Road” jump, number 11A/B. Those gathered around this jump were thrilled and amazed as the horses negotiated the barrier at the beginning of the jump, then down into an area that looked like a dry stream bed, then back up the side and over another barrier at the end.
Farnam hosted the third annual Grooms Party on Saturday evening, April 26, 2007, following the day’s cross-country event. This event is held each year to acknowledge and honor the valuable contribution made by the grooms and their tireless dedication to their equine athletes.
“Our commitment to the equine industry is demonstrated by our participation in these events,” said Jacobi. “This venue also provides us with a platform for showcasing our extensive product lines — products that were developed to meet the exacting needs of the horses and their riders who compete in such a challenging event.”
Over the past six decades, Farnam Companies, Inc., has grown to one of the most widely recognized names in the animal health products industry and has become one of the largest marketers of equine products in the country.
